Experience

As a senior strategic communication and public relations major, I’ve focused on building real, transferable experience across writing, media relations, digital content, and campaign strategy. From student-led PR firms to real-world nonprofit and campus roles, each opportunity below reflects my commitment to clear, purposeful communication — and my readiness to launch a career in PR and digital communication.

Work Experience

Before specializing in strategic public communication and public relations, I developed core professional skills across four distinct roles. As a writing tutor, I learned to adapt complex ideas for different audiences—directly applicable to drafting press materials and messaging. My time as an office assistant taught me internal communication, organization, and professional decorum. Working in retail sharpened my ability to read customer needs, manage high-pressure interactions, and represent a brand consistently. And as a substitute teacher, I mastered crisis communication, audience management, and the art of delivering clear instructions to unpredictable groups. These experiences built on instincts that now anchor my PR and digital communication foundation.

Student-Run Roles

I’ve paired my strategic communication coursework with active student leadership and professional involvement. Serving as marketing head and content creator taught me campaign execution and audience-focused writing, while my role as treasurer built budget reporting and stakeholder communication skills. At the same time, I’ve been involved in PRSSA — attending professional development events and learning agency practices. These aren’t just titles; rather its hands-on PR experience.

Volunteer

I’ve taken my communication skills directly into the community through volunteer roles with charity and grassroots organizations. In one of my roles as a content creator, I’ve written captions, taken photos and filmed videos, and turned mission-driven messages into engaging posts. As a social media manager, I’ve scheduled content, built ans maintained the organization’s instagram page, and tracked what resonates with real audiences. And as an event organizer, I’ve coordinated volunteers, communicated with attendees, and assissted in running events from start to finish. These experiences taught me how to communicate with limited resources, adapt quickly when plans change, and earn trust from real communities.

PR Projects

My strategic communication coursework has given me hands-on practice in core PR skills. I’ve written multiple press releases, focusing on strong leads, effective quotes, and proper media format. I’ve also planned and executed digital campaigns, including content calendars, audience targeting, and basic performance metrics. These projects taught me to think strategically and write professionally.
